秀鸾是现任新加坡妇女艺术协会会长、新加坡国际文化艺术联合会顾问。曽经担任新加坡三一指画会会长长达十三年及中国手指画研究会海外顾问。
林秀鸾从事美术教育多年，这是她驾轻就熟爱不释手的工作。然而，林老师的天份不仅仅限于绘画艺术，她也是一位优秀的数学和化学老师，这位多才多艺的化学学士早年毕业于南洋大学。
秀鸾于1982年开始积极参与海内外的重要美术展出。她屡次参与新加坡国庆美展的作品皆被认购，特别是在1989年参展的《葫芦与小鸡》竟然被开幕主宾国家发展部代部长薛爱美博士当场收购珍藏。
2013年捐献予新加坡华侨中学校友会主办的筹募建校基金之【一弹指倾屋盈金】南瓜画作，在开幕仪式流程一结束的那片刻就立马被华侨中学董事长李喜隆先生抢先认购。
新加坡旅游促进局毅然多次破例耗资为这位指画家在欧、美、纽、日多座城市举行【林秀鸾指画个展】并请她在现场示范其引人入胜的指画流程，她那熟能生巧的作画技术果然在异国他乡的陌生人群中产生了磁性超强的吸引力和不同凡响的共鸣，好评如潮，收获满满。
1999及2002年在香港举行的【林秀鸾指画艺术欣赏】，引起港九多家报社竞相采访刊登，连一向不轻举妄动的香港无线电视台也不例外，竟然抢在第一时间派遣制作团队就地摄录展出场景及其扣人心弦的指画示范流程，并当天在新闻节目上播放报道之。
2012年秀鸾在韩国首尔获颁亞太美术招待展大赏奖。
富有名望的新加坡黑土地美术馆与黑土地拍卖馆于2020年特地为她举办【资深指画家林秀鸾精美彩墨指画作品展】。
林秀鸾的精美指画作品广受世界各地艺术爱好者、政要与王族珍藏。

Artist Lin Sue Luan，paints without brush instead by her talented fingers with Chinese ink and colours on rice paper. She received her initial formal art education from two renowned Singapore pioneer artists Mr. Liu Kang and Dr. Chen Wen Hsi before taking up finger painting courses from Mr. Wu Tsai Yan the famous master in the art of finger painting.
She was the former president of Singapore San Yi Finger Painting Society, Overseas Consultant of China Finger Painting Association, Sue Luan is currently the President of Women Artists Assocition (Singapore) as well as Advisor of Culture and Education of International Art & Culture Federation (Singapore).
Besides being an art teacher for decades, Sue Luan also taught mathematics and chemistry in secondary school, as she is a holder of Bachelor Degree of Science in Chemistry graduated from the Nanyang University.
Since 1982, Sue Luan has been actively participating in major art exhibitions locally and abroad. Very often that her finger paintings were successfully sold during the exhibiting period there and then; out of her surprise in 1989, when she took part in the Singapore National Day Art Exhibition, the MND Acting Minister Dr. Seet Ai Mee who was the guest of honour for the event purchased her finger painting "Calabash & Chicks" soon after the ceremony.
Surprisingly Singapore Tourism Promotion Board had forked out their fund without hesitation to organize a series of solo art exhibitions for Sue Luan in some major cities of the United States, Europe, Japan and New Zealand, besides exhibiting her exquiste paintings done by her talented fingers, she was invited to perform her fascinating finger painting demonstrations there and then, not only had attracted overwhelming appreciations but were highly praised and applaused among the stranger onlookers in foreign lands.
In years 1999 and 2002, 【Lin Sue Luan Finger Painting Art Appreciation】were organized in Hong Kong. The event was reported by a numbers of major newspapers such as Wen Hui Bao, Hong Kong Economic Times etc., and the Hong Kong TVB videoed her demonstration of finger painting and her beautiful art pieces in the exhibition for their broad casting programme.
In the year 2012 she was awarded with the prestigues Grand Prize of Asia Pacific Art Exhibition in Seoul.
The【Exhibition of Artist Lin Sue Luan's Beautiful Chinese Paintings by Fingers】was specially organized by the respectable Black Earth Art Museum & Black Earth Auction House in 2020.
Many pieces of Sue Luan’s exquisite paintings are in the collections of art lovers, politicians and royal families in various parts of the world.
